Product Description
Superb gouache painting of the Cunarder liner Servia. Dated 1884, this painting shows the popular liner, which was the first Cunarder to be fitted with electric lighting throughout and the first to be built of steel rather than iron. It is signed by the artist “Robt Stewart, Paris 1884.” He was a great artist and the likeness of the ship is impressive to look at. My art teacher told me “I couldn’t draw flies” so you know I know what I am talking about. 🙂
The painting, including the matte, measures 27.5″ x 17″. Had been folded at some time in the past. An outstanding image of a ship we see almost nothing for!
