One of the most collectible items ever made for the Queen Mary. A Chad Valley take-to-pieces model. As you can see from the photo, each deck pivots revealing a detailed color-coded deck plan, handily numbered for use with its corresponding key chart, which is included along with the original box. The key covers 240 areas on the ship. What makes this one extra special is that it is signed on the box by the designer of the model GH Davis and dated July, 1936.
The model itself is in excellent condition (one of the best I’ve seen). I would say about as close to mint as you will ever get. The box has issues. The expense of this type of toy just shows how famous the Queen Mary was. I wish they had done this for other liners! What child’s heart wouldn’t pound with excitement at the prospect of playing with this?
