Product Description
A comfortable cabin chair from second-class cabin D-149 on the Queen Mary. Crafted from solid mahogany, what makes this chair stand out above all other pieces of Queen Mary furniture available for sale is the fabric, which I am astounded to say is the original Cunard covering, which may be from the 1947 post-war refit. I am sure the British upholster never thought this fabric would have lasted so long. Coming up on 75 years! There is nothing wrong with the fabric at all. It is not threadbare, dry rotten, or faded. Very few items of ocean-liner furniture come up for sale with the original fabric on them and fewer still are in such a cool pattern. See the archival photo for the same fabric on a different chair on the QM.
I have not had this chair restored, but it is in very good condition with the usual dings one would expect after over 80 years of use. Comes with a scan of the original sales certificate. Sit in and enjoy this chair for many years to come! Measures about 22″ wide x 28″ deep x 32″ tall.
