Product Description
A spectacular opportunity for one of you to own an actual artifact brought up from one the most famous ship wrecks in history–a piece of window glass from Cunard’s RMS Lusitania during the Oceaneering salvage expedition in 1982. Most of the salvaged Lusitania items that appear on eBay are fake with made-up provenance and worthless COAs (e.g. pieces of rust, coins, etc). This is definitely the real deal. One of the items recovered during the salvage work was a Boat Deck window from one of the first-class public rooms. The window (as well as the other salvaged items) were sold by sealed-bid auction in 1990, and the window found its way to Cobwebs in Southampton. Several shards of glass were still in the window, and this is one of them. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from Peter Boyd-Smith at Cobwebs, who bought the window directly from the salvagers. Glass measures 2 3/8″ x 1 1/2″ x 3/4″ thick. Most artifacts salvaged from the wreck are in private collections and almost never come on the market except for the often-seen watch cases and mechanisms.
