Blanket, Deck Chair

A very desirable Cunard deck blanket.  This is one of the famous “rugs” that stewards wrapped around you while you were in a deck chair at sea.  These are wool and are extremely durable.  This particular blanket is in great condition with its original edging (not the rubber edge added later to the blankets that went on QE2).  The blanket does have some tiny holes in the wool, but these really don’t detract.  Two toned, red on one side and navy on the other with “Cunard” embroidered into it.  I have sold several of these over the years, and they always move fast.

As a side note, the vast majority of blankets I have seen are originally from the Queen Elizabeth.  They were transferred to QE2 when she came into service and were used throughout her service life as well — a total of 60 years of hard use.  How can you tell the difference between ones from the Mary and the Elizabeth and the ones from QE2?  When the ones from the Elizabeth were put on board QE2, they all had a new “rubber” nosing sewn around the edge of the blanket.
