Now is the time to enhance your ocean-liner collection with this beautiful bone-china White Star Line demi-tasse cup and saucer. This is the earliest example of a cup and saucer in this pattern I have seen. Dates to the early 1890’s and made by Brownfield’s. Just think of the craftsmanship in this set. Hand made china that was glazed, fired, had brown decals applied by hand, fired, gold leafed, hand-painted flag added, turquoise “tongues” applied (again by hand), then fired again! Making china like this today would cost a mint! Excellent condition considering its age. There is some discoloration in the well of the saucer. Some very light crazing on the saucer, but this does not detract.
