Product Description

Lovely fold-out deck plan for Cunard’s RMS Carinthia of 1956. Contains 6 color photos of her public rooms, including her dining room where the where the ever-frugal Cunard reused chairs from RMS Aquitania’s first-class dining room.

By the time Carinthia came out, everyone with half a brain knew these ships were not suited for service.  The Canadian route was rapidly transitioning to aircraft, and these ships were not built with any kind of cruising in mind.  I think Cunard should have left the Canadian trade to CPR and built two diesel-powered no-cargo-toting, full-time cruise ships with outdoor pools and air conditioning.  Who knows how that would have changed the course of Cunard history?
