Product Description
Here is something supremely rare. Let’s get the basics out of the way first–it covers 12 pages and is in very good condition with two chipped cover corners. While on the one hand, I am overjoyed to see a brochure dedicated to a vessel such as RMS Campania which, despite her size, speed, and fame, never seemed to rate her own brochure when she and Lucania entered service.
I kind of question Cunard’s sanity on producing this one. What makes this brochure questionable to me is that it dates to around 1913-1914, which is wild since the ship was withdrawn within just a few months of this brochure being printed. Why do one of the best-focused brochures on this ship so late in her life? We might never known, but for one of you a very rare opportunity. The brochure has about a dozen photos of Campania that I have never seen. She was truly a ship of the 1890s!
To digress a little: A situation that is sadly endemic to most really famous ocean liners is that usually you get the combo brochure for sister ships or the fleet-wide brochure but not that long detailed individual ship-focused document we all crave. What we all wouldn’t give, I suspect, for a newly discovered RMS Olympic or RMS Titanic brochure by way of example. Just one unseen “new” photo makes the social-media ocean-liner world come alive!
