Product Description
Norddeutscher Lloyd was rightly proud of the ss Bremen of 1929. She made a triumphant entry into service while simultaneously solidifying her fame by grabbing the coveted blue ribbon speed record from the grand old RMS Mauretania. All that major world news of these ships fighting it out is now nearly 100 years ago!
You can relive it with this hard-bound book that showcases just about everything for the great liner. It is even inscribed Captain Ziegenbein on a voyage in April, 1931. In German, but each image is handily also translated into English for us.
Extensive is not the word for what is contained in these 192 pages. EVERYTHING you could want is here. Full-page plates of photos and renderings, many in color, showing every aspect of the liner. Odd angles, unique corners, crew spaces, passenger spaces…. In a word, simply everything. Even the beer storage room! I am so glad this was done for her, but oh, how I wish this type of book had also been done for RMS Olympic or any number of other ships in the past. Some bumping to corners and slight weakness to spine but nothing much. Overall very good condition. You could write a book out of this very book.
