70 years ago this week the world lost one of the most beautiful liners ever built. She had a lot of style and is considered by many to be the most beautiful liner ever built. I dare say that she’s right up there among my favorites as well! This stand-up advertising piece is colorful, impressive, and easy to display. The painting is by Giovanni Patrone and is dated 1951. What’s interesting about Patrone is that he had worked for Italia before the war and produced some of the most iconic posters for the Rex and Conte di Savoia. Advertising pieces like this for the Doria are extremely hard to find in this condition. It measures almost 16″ x 13″. MO
