I am pleased to offer for the first time here on Luxury Liner Row an exceptionally rare sterling silver VIP medal for Normandie’s maiden voyage. Unlike the more commonly seen bronze medal, these were only given out on the liner’s first trip to important people. If you want to own the finest and rarest medal for Normandie, this is just about it. Designed by Jean Vernon and made by the French mint, the medal is in near-mint condition with a couple of small nicks to the edge. It measures about 2¾” across. Interestingly, the design is the same as its bronze cousin, but perhaps because of the rich silver patina, it seems so much crisper and more impressive. This pure silver medal weighs a hefty 5.5 ounces. Only 500 of these were ever made! Comes with a presentation box which is modern.
