Product Description
Van Ryper started his ship-modeling business in 1933 in Martha’s Vineyard. The idea was straight forward — make handmade models in a very recognizable style. The name is famous, and the models are outstanding. But being 80-90 years old now, they are quite rare. This is a Van Ryper model of CGT’s Champlaine of 1932. She was one of the main art deco forerunners of the forthcoming ss Normandie. The model is in very good condition with some slight chipping to the paint at the very stern. The model was cherished by a collector all these years, and I was fortunate enough to buy his entire collection. Measures about 9″ long.
