White Star Line used several different covers on their passenger lists with styles changing every few years or so in keeping with the styles of the era. 19th Century lists have a very 19th Century feel to the fonts and artwork. If you want a great list for your collection, this is one to have sporting White Star’s Mediterranean services cover. It is for Cretic’s voyage from New York to Naples, October 31, 1911. Captain Lobez in command.
What’s really important is that this list is positively dripping Olympic and Titanic. Titanic is listed on page one as having been launched on May 31.
On page one the largest and finest steamers in the world Olympic (in commission and Titanic (launched) are mentioned. There is a full-page ad for Olympic that lists all the superb amenities on the vessel. Titanic is also mentioned as having been “launched at Belfast on May 31st and is now rapidly completing prior to taking her place in this service.” There is the famous tipped in notice about the fact “The attention of the managers has been called to the fact…. professional gamblers are in the habit of traveling to and fro in Atlantic Steamships. Lastly, the list ends with another full-page ad for Olympic and Titanic “The Largest Steamers in the World.”
Sailing schedules for the entire fleet with Olympic listed as “new” are included.
