Product Description
One of the rarest and earliest brochures for White Star that I have ever offered. Produced at the time of the maiden voyages of the Majestic and Teutonic and copyright 1890. The company’s name “White Star Line” is embossed on both the front and back covers, and on one side is a large embossed White Star burgee. On the other is an embossed stamp made to look like sealing wax, and embossed on that is the name “Oceanic Steam Navigation Co.”
All three classes are covered at great length with excellent writing for ad copy. “The capacity of the Grand Dining-room is such that 300 passengers can be seated at one time, and as the Majestic and Teutonic are not intended to carry more than this number…. the inconvenience occasioned by dining in relays will be avoided.”
Not much is ever available for these two fine White Star liners. In fact, this is only the second one of these I have seen in over 30 years of collecting, and the other was in terrible condition. This brochure is in very good condition for its age as it is now over 130 years old. The only real issues are a tear on the cover (that you can see in the photos), a long tear to the cover flap, and wear on the spine.
