Product Description
Were you aware that the RMS Queen Mary went on a coastal cruise prior to her post-war maiden voyage in July, 1947? I wasn’t, but here is the list to prove the trip was undertaken. This one is even rarer than passenger lists for her maiden voyage and is the only one I have ever seen or heard of.
Commanded by Captain Illingworth, the list is a who’s who of the shipping world and of the Cunard Line. Recognizable names abound. A bevy of Bates family members. Streets of Bibby’s, Brocklebanks, and Furnesses. Cunard captains also abound: George Gibbons, B.H. Davies, E.M. Fall, Robert Irving, Commodore Peel, and J.C. Townley. Throw in a smattering of Lords, Ladies, Right Honorables, and even a Marquess, and it is an extremely distinguished list–even for a ship used to carrying the cream of the crop. In mint condition.
