Product Description
Farewell dinner for the Travelers Aid Society in New York City. My goodness, didn’t Cunard put on the dog for them on board the Queen Mary for this last time? Lobster Thermidor, Fillet Steak, and some very, very fine wines. Dated September 21, 1967.
I have never seen another one of these menus in all my decades of collecting and selling. But the sentiment is there and in spades. “Very few ships… if any… have won the particular affection and esteem she has enjoyed…. It is impossible to define the certain quality which causes one ship to proceed at full steam to capture and hold the public’s love. Leaving all others in her wake…. Yesterday a new Cunard luxury liner slipped down the ways at Clydebank…. To those of us who were there, it was apparent that whatever it is that the Queen Mary has had…has been passed on.”
How nicely put. I say something similar in my Queen Mary presentations on the Queen Mary 2. But not quite as elegantly written as this. In very good condition with one slight stain at corner of menu.
