Product Description
Lovely passenger list for the first big cruise Cunard did after World War II. The Great African Cruise of 1950. Most of the world was still recovering from the devastation of the Second World War so Cunard chose to go to countries that were not very hard hit by fighting. Of course, they chose Caronia to bear the house flag since she was their newest ship and was specifically built with long cruises in mind. Among the passengers on board are Harold Vanderbilt, great grandson of the dynasty’s founder and arguably the last really rich Vanderbilt. He and his wife occupied the best suite on board, naturally. Comes to us from the collection of the cruise director on this voyage, Ross Skinner. Great condition with a few small pen marks inside.
