Product Description
A fascinating set of nine photos of ss Lurline — all taken in November, 1939. I first thought these might have something to do with the outbreak of war, but visible on the back of two images is “Universal – International Research Department.” Perhaps these were images to be used in creating ocean-liner sets for the movie industry? Certainly some interesting views are to be had here. Four different angles on the bridge (including the fire detecting box), the corridor leading to the officers’ quarters, a “chair deck,” an exterior door, a “window detail,” and the “dance pavilion” partially setup for horse racing. Each photo measures 9” x 7½” and the backs have glue marks which do not affect the images. Otherwise mint. A very unusual set from Matson Line that you won’t see again!
