Without a doubt, this is one of the best brochures ever done for White Star’s beloved Olympic, which was produced for her 1919 return to service. White Star at this point did not have that many main-line ships to advertise; so Olympic, as she so richly deserved, got the royal treatment, and this brochure is all for her alone.
Happily, this one is in excellent condition and is one of the best I have ever seen. Covers first class and runs 16 pages–all tied by a silk cord. 20 photographs, including a double-page spread of her docking are featured. Some very unusual views are here–one from the top of her fourth funnel and another from the roof of the pier looking at the boat deck. My favorite, however, is the closeup showing the fire place in the first-class smoking room. Interestingly, most of the pictures used were taken before the war around the time of her 1913 post-Titanic refit. I cannot say enough about this superb brochure, and if you love Olympic (and who doesn’t?), you really need this as part of your collection.
