A one-of-a-kind item–a menu cover picked up from the printing shop of the RMS Queen Mary on her final eastbound crossing in 1967 as a gift for a friend by famous Titanic author Walter Lord. Signed as such in his bold yet distinctive hand to his friend and well-known collector Bob Forest. As you might know, Walter booked passage on the last crossing as a sort of farewell to the great liners. I don’t think he was the only one do this, but I suggest he might have been one of the most famous to make this last trip of nostalgia. Walter’s personal contact with the great liners went all the way back to his first boyhood trip on White Star’s RMS Olympic in the 1920s.
