Launched as Matson’s ss Monterey in 1931, she entered service in 1932. Because of post-war money issues, Matson did not return her to service right away. As time passed, Matson began enjoying such success with Lurline that Monterey was finally restored to service in 1957. Renamed ss Matsonia, she and her nearly identical sister Lurline enjoyed a five-year glorious run as first-class ships to Hawaii. Think of the glamour! This brochure for Matsonia was produced at the time she re-entered service. In excellent condition and measures about 18″ x 16″ when opened.
