Very few souvenirs or artifacts are ever seen for any of the German four stackers, which paved the way for Cunard’s Lusitania and Mauretania and White Star’s Olympic and Titanic. That’s what makes this souvenir spoon so special. From the North German. Lloyd liner Kronprinz Wilhelm, this spoon has a lovely enameled, hand-painted NDL flag on the handle and an engraved image of the four stakes in the bowl. At the start of World War I, she became a commerce raider, sinking quite a number of ships. As food and coal ran short, she entered the port of New port News and was interred. Once the US entered the war, she was renamed the Von Steuben and was scrapped in 1923.
