Ivernia (1955) Bed (Headboard and Footboard)

Have you ever had a great night’s sleep on a cruise ship or ocean liner?  I slept particularly well on QE2 and still do onboard QM2 — although I think the new QE has the best mattresses of the three modern Cunarders.  Well, here is your chance to have pleasant “ship” dreams with a full headboard and footboard set from Cunard’s 1955-built Ivernia.  I was told that these beautifully veneered pieces come to us from her chief engineer’s cabin, and this was written on tape attached to the pieces.  They are in great condition with the original finish.  You can use them as is, or you could have them refinished, but I am going to leave that up to you.  Some slight lifting to the veneer in small spots, but this could be easily fixed with some glue or taken to a restorer.  The headboard measures 36” tall x 33” wide, and the footboard is 22” tall and 33” wide.  Rarely do you see a matched set of headboards and footboards from any Cunarder still together.  The legs are at a slight angle to counteract the sheer.
