32477 Allan Line
China, Cup & Saucer In 1917, the famous Allan Line was absorbed
into Canadian Pacific, and that's why I've listed it here. The Allan
Line was famous for introducing the first turbine steamship on the
Atlantic, the Virginian of Titanic fame.
Extremely hard-to-find cup and saucer for the Allan Line. Circa
1910. Where else are you going to find china for a small company that didn't
even make it past World War I? Cup and saucer are in very good
condition with some crazing and some slight staining to the cup with a touch
of gold loss. Great logo!! $225. |

32751 Empress of Canada
Souvenir Ashtray After World War II, Canadian Pacific' fleet was
devastated. One of their only remaining ships was the Duchess of
Richmond. Needing to restart their service, the Japan route was
canceled, concentrating the three remaining ships on the Atlantic.
After being refitted, she was renamed Empress of Canada and came back into
service in 1947. She sadly only lasts a few years before burning in Liverpool in
1953.
This ashtray is in excellent condition with no loss of silver or damage
to the enamel. $35. |
|

 |
23006 Empress of England
Deck Plan Very early tissue plan (on air-mail grade watermarked
tissue), dated October, 1957. She later became the Pacific Empress for
Shaw Savill and only lasted in that service for five years. She was
scrapped at only 18 years old in 1975. Measures 30" x 26" Very
good condition. $28. |

18964 Empress of Ireland
China An outstanding example of her china that we rarely see. An
egg cup. Standing 2" tall and 2" wide, the cup is cracked on the front
(as can be seen in the photo), but a piece of such rarity, does it really
matter? A touch of crazing. Happily
free of the typical staining one sees on most recovered china. $395. |

 |
18993 Empress of Ireland
China A dinner plate, first class, measuring 9½"
in diameter. We know that Mintons dated their china by impressing a
numeral into the underside of most pieces, but like other companies, not
every piece has a date mark. This plate has a "6" in a
circle, which dates it to
1906, the time of her maiden voyage. Very good condition with crazing as can be seen in the photos and the typical
staining from decades under the St. Lawrence. Full Minton logo on the
bottom. $495.
|
|

 |
18589 Empress of Ireland
China Extremely delicate fine bone-china demi-tasse cup by Mintons.
Hold it to the light. If the piece is translucent, it's bone china.
If you can read through it, wow! The Canadian Pacific belted logo was
apparently applied above the glaze and only its ghost remains. You can
see it when you tip it to the light. Very
good condition with crazing as can be seen in the photos and the typical
staining from decades under the St. Lawrence. Full Minton logo on the
bottom. $225. |

|
18941 Empress of Ireland
China Third-class soup plate, measuring 8" in diameter. Has a
crack at the 8 o'clock position and some other issues as can be seen in the
photos. Perhaps the third-class dining
room was harder to reach for divers. Whatever the reason, we see very
little third-class china from the Empress of Ireland. Full Minton logo on the bottom.
$250. |

18607 Empress of Ireland
Glassware Crystal dish measuring about 5" in diameter and standing

base. $150. |

32899 Empress of Scotland
Souvenir A souvenir from the third of the pre-war trio to survive
World War II. She had been the fastest ship on the far-east run,
setting the record from British Columbia to Japan in just under eight days.
She was renamed Empress of Scotland in 1942 (right in the heat of World War
II) because prior to that, she was the Empress of Japan. By 1957, when
she was sold and became the Hanseatic, she was the last surviving three
stacker aside from Cunard's Queen Mary.
Beautiful souvenir with a glass-covered portrait of the ship. Some
slight pitting to the chrome. $45. |

32633 Canadian Pacific
Brochure Very rare brochure for the ship that started Canadian
Pacific's transatlantic service. In 1903 Canadian Pacific purchased
Elder Dempster's Beaver Line, acquiring several ships in the process,

all of these are the ship). In less than 25 years, Canadian Pacific
went from a 9,000-ton ship to the 45,000-ton Empress of Britain. The
brochure was once folded but doesn't detract because where else will you
find something for Canadian Pacific's earliest days of ship service?
